Behind a camera, I learned everything we see is data in motion and photography is the act of recording and sharing these observations. Creating datasets from light that was millions of years old over the course of a night is where I started. In slowing down and moving with the gentle rotation of the universe, the beauty hidden in the data became more clear.

Cloudy nights and a cold winter encouraged me to re-source my data from the cosmos to our sun. During the day, the speed of light doesn’t change but the subjects and scenes are more quickly fleeting. Even though daytime data is not accumulated over hours but hastily gathered within fractions of a second, being present is still key.

In nature and with people, cameras help me exist with a little less anxiety observing newer moments becoming older ones. Navigating these liminal spaces can be opportunities with unique perspectives that won’t last forever. For my endless curiosity there are endless possibilities and for my few words I now have thousands.
